A2VT front man Said Bulle came to me with the, “Open to interpretation,” concept for this video.
I shot this with two A7SIII’s and a ronin RS3. The format was 4k, s-log-3, 24p and 120p for the slow motion. There were 26 various takes of him performing the song. Some sequences were cut to keyed footage that was shot at the Burlington Media Factory. My VFX approach was to mimic shots, camera movement and focal depths to cut to different environments, suggesting parallel timelines. I sprinkled in some slow mo shots of the dance-floor and some cameo’s of Burlington’s finest. (Country, Mecca, Big Dog, Sergei, etc.)
The opening sequence was a medium and a wide locked off shot with an animated text mask that matched the motion of my handheld truck shot and functioned as a transition.
Many thanks Said for working so hard, bringing the crowd and making the video happen. Big up’s to Matt Robinson of Nectar’s Reggae Night for help with the venue. Thank you Sergei for the sound. Shout out to manager David Cooper, all the extras and all the friends who helped carry my equipment.
